
In industrial boilers, air preheaters, and economizer tubes, acid condensation can occur when flue gas temperatures fall below the acid dew point, especially during low-load operation or startup/shutdown cycles. This condensation, combined with moisture and chloride salts (NaCl), can generate aggressive acids such as HCl and H₂SO₄. These acidic conditions accelerate metal degradation, corrosion under insulation (CUI), and reduce heat transfer efficiency, ultimately leading to higher maintenance costs and unplanned downtime.
