Power generation is one of the most important driving forces behind economic expansion as energy demands have grown rapidly due to increased consumption. The power generation trend has changed from focusing on lower costs to safety and environmental sustainability.
Many thermal power plants now rely on biomass and municipal waste as primary fuel sources. However, these thermal power plants suffer from issues such as low thermal efficiency from the deposition of combustion residues and slagging on tubes surface. An emergency breakdown from tube corrosion at high temperatures and contaminated fuel was also frequently found. Improving both thermal efficiency and reliability of thermal power plants is, therefore, essential for the power plant industry.
